2018 RIDERS NATIONAL MID-YEAR RALLY
April 26-28, 2018, Bunnell, FL
Meeting was called to order by President George Cummings, April 28, 2018 at 2:30 pm.
Invocation given by Jeremiah Botkin, RNCHAP. Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Larry Saad, RNSAA. Mission statement was read by President George Cummings.
Roll call of officers, all present.
1st Vice Tom McNamara - We have a total of 1,902 members that we can account for. Approximately 100 cannot be accounted for because their status as a Rider or Supporter isn’t known and therefore not marked on the National roster. It’s important that the DRF’s are filled out completely. The Department Rosters were sent to each department to be corrected and marked that dues were paid and sent back to Karen.
2nd Vice John Reando - If you have a new email address, send it in. Program reporting is going good. The following departments have reported 100%: GA, IA, KY and OH. National raffle tickets: sell them and get the stubs and money back to me. Do not send cash. The drawing will be held at the National Convention in August. In order to get Quality Chapter, you must sell at least $100 worth of tickets. LRP: Committee members are Kristin Orem, David Ray, Richard Dean, George Cummings and John Reando.
Past National President Don Cox No Report.
Judge Advocate Jim Whitcraft My report is in the book. I ask that it
be accepted as written.
Treasurer Dan Macdonald - Finance committee gave him ideas on tracking expenses. Suggest he have sub-groups under some line items, so it’ll be broke down. Not all the membership money has come in yet because not all DRF’s are in yet. Audit Committee – No discrepancies found, it was perfect. They did have recommendations: When officers get receipts, make a copy right away because store receipts tend to fade. Also, have a running total on the spreadsheet.
Communications Officer Kathy Campbell - I ask that my report be accepted as written in the book.
Secretary Karen Cox - I ask that my report be accepted as written in the book.
Publications Officer Kelly Webber - I ask that my report be accepted as written in the book.
Sergeant-At-Arms Larry Saad - No uniform issues. Dealing with the 990’s.
Motion to accept officers’ reports from David Ray, 2nd by Dave Wilkins, no discussion, passed.
Kurt Knechtle - President of Chapter 113 – Thanked everyone for attending. Said he received help throughout the planning of the rally. All raffle winners will be drawn today.
Richard Dean – 2nd Vice MO 48 – Has PLEASE STAND patches for sale for $6.00. Funds from sold patches will go to Hero’s Care.
David Ray – Department of GA President, has been appointed as National Historian. He was presented with a red beret.

Riders National Secretary
It’s about Mid Year time, and there is work to be done. I will be getting a letter out regarding EVERY Chapter 990 tax status.
Department Presidents, please insure your chapters and Dept are current. Those chapters without a Dept, please make sure you are current...
Please go to National's web page, and find my email address and forward a copy of 990 to me. Please add your chapter# and Dept in the subject line, as to weed out spam.
If you’re as computer illiterate as I am, and you’d rather mail a copy, that’s fine, too.
Thanks in advance.
Larry Saad, RNSAA

Riders and Supporters Nationwide,
I hope this finds everyone doing well!
Since August 2016, we’ve opened 7 new chapters and 1 new department. Welcome to all of you! We are very pleased to have you join our Riders family! If you have any questions, concerns or need help, please don’t hesitate to contact us. If you have a Department, please refer your questions to them first. If you don’t have a Department, please contact National.
NATIONAL RIDERS WEBSITE: Be sure and check out our National Riders Website. It has a lot of good useful info. It has all our forms, our National Quartermaster, Laura Stenson’s info; the new Unified Constitution and By-Laws (CBL’s) and much more. amvetsridersnational.org.
NATIONAL LOTTERY TICKETS: You can order them online or contact Tom McNamara, National 2nd Vice and he’ll make sure you get them. If you already have some, please try to sell them; that’s what helps keep us from raising the Riders dues. Remember, you can sell them to anyone: family, friends and neighbors.
DRFs: Nice job to the Departments and individual chapters who have sent them in! If you haven’t yet, please do so as soon as possible.
QUALITY CHAPTERS CRITERIA: The 5 areas that need to be met for Quality Chapter patch are: DRF in on time, REVAL in on time, recruit new member(s), participate in at least 1 National fund raiser and report your programs.
MID-YEAR RALLY: This is a very informative convention. If you can possibly come, you will enjoy it. This is the place where new ideas are formed, new friendships are formed, and old ones reunite. It will take place at Post 48 in Desoto, MO from May 5-7. Pre-registration forms are on the website. Print the form, fill it out and mail them, with your registration fee, to the National Riders Secretary. The cost is $10 if you pre-register by April 15th. Registration after the 15th and at the Rally is $20. T-shirts are also available for $15 each. Those must be paid for by April 15th so they can be ordered. Information about the rally is on the website.
Also remember: This year the hosting Chapter/Department for Mid-Year 2019 will be chosen. If your Chapter/Department would like to be considered to host the 2019 Mid-Year, the requirements and bidding guidelines can be found on the website under the events tab. Bids need to be postmarked by April 1st.
SCHOLARSHIP AND DEATH BENEFIT FORMS: These forms are on our website now. Please take advantage of the Scholarship Program; the application has been revised. Also, if a Rider or Supporter has passed, please fill out that form. It doesn’t matter what caused their death. This program was implemented last fall, so you can fill out a form if someone has died since that time.
Thank you Riders and Supporters for all you do for our communities and veterans out there! Everyone stay safe! Hope to see you all in Missouri in May!
Riders National President
